Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Please read these terms carefully before purchasing or requesting any service from Ryterly Publishing. By engaging our services, you agree to these terms.

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Ryterly website (www.ryterly.co.uk) and any services you purchase from Ryterly Publishing, a publishing services company based in the United Kingdom.

These terms are governed by English law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

2. Our Services

Ryterly Publishing provides professional publishing services for authors, including:

  • Book Writing — ghostwriting and manuscript development
  • Editing — developmental, line, copy editing, and proofreading
  • Book Formatting — print-ready PDF and eBook (ePub) formatting
  • Cover Design — custom book cover design for print and digital
  • Publishing — ISBN registration, KDP and IngramSpark setup, metadata optimisation
  • Amazon Ads Management — campaign creation, keyword research, and ongoing optimisation

The specific scope of work for each project is agreed upon in writing before work begins. Any changes to the agreed scope may affect pricing and timelines.

3. Payments

Fixed-price services (Formatting, Cover Design, Publishing, Amazon Ads): Payment is collected in full at checkout via Stripe's secure payment platform before work begins.

Custom-quoted services (Book Writing, Editing, and bundle packages): After receiving and accepting your quote, a deposit of 50% is due to confirm your project. The remaining 50% is due on delivery of the final work. For projects over £3,000, milestone-based payment structures can be arranged — please discuss this during your consultation.

All prices are in GBP (£) and exclude VAT where applicable. Your invoice will specify whether VAT applies.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store card details.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

Please refer to our Refund Policy for full details. In summary:

  • Full refund if cancelled before work begins
  • Pro-rata refund based on work completed if cancelled after work has started
  • No refund once final deliverables have been accepted
  • UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013

5. Revisions

All services include a defined number of revision rounds as specified in your service agreement or quote:

  • Book Writing: two rounds of revisions
  • Cover Design: two rounds of revisions
  • Editing: revisions as outlined in the service tier
  • Formatting: one round of amends

Additional revision rounds beyond those included can be arranged at an agreed hourly or fixed rate. We will always discuss this with you before proceeding.

6. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain full ownership of all content you provide to us — your manuscript, notes, ideas, and all materials submitted for our work.

Completed work: Upon receipt of full payment, all rights in the completed work (formatted files, cover designs, ghostwritten content) transfer to you. You own your book.

Portfolio rights: Unless you request otherwise in writing, we reserve the right to list your book title and cover (but not manuscript content) in our portfolio as an example of our work.

Our materials: Any proprietary templates, tools, or processes we use during the project remain our intellectual property.

7. Timelines and Delivery

Estimated timelines are agreed at the start of each project. We make every effort to meet agreed deadlines, but timelines may be affected by factors outside our control, such as delayed client feedback, scope changes, or unforeseen circumstances.

We will notify you promptly if a delay occurs and will work with you to agree a revised schedule.

8. Client Responsibilities

To enable us to deliver the best possible work, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete project materials in a timely manner
  • Respond to queries and review requests within the agreed timeframe
  • Ensure you hold the rights to any third-party material (images, text) submitted to us for inclusion in your book
  • Not use our services for content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes on others' rights

9. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by UK law.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with any project shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for that project.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
